Phlebotomists working for East London's Homerton NHS Trust have been moved to a higher wage rate and given almost five years of back pay.

The workers had campaigned to be paid fairly to reflect the skills and responsibilities needed for their roles.

Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust accepted that staff were working above their grades and agreed to move them up. Those with two years or more service are placed at the top of their new band.

Unison London regional organiser, Rosie Sammut, said: 'These specialist health workers have been undervalued for too long and Unison has been proud to stand with them to win the pay and recognition they deserve.'
