As a result, GMUPCA now covers all 10 Greater Manchester localities.

The primary care alliance, which also comprises Bardoc, gtd healthcare, Mastercall, and Salford Primary Care Together, said collaborating with Wigan GP Alliance would further advance the integration of urgent primary care services throughout the metropolitan county.

In addition to core out of hours services, GMUPCA delivers the Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) for all 10 localities across Greater Manchester to help reduce ambulance conveyances and attendance at A&E departments and admissions to hospital.

A GMUPCA spokesperson said: ‘By fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing, we aim to deliver the highest standard of care. With the evolution of the Integrated Care System, there is a prime opportunity to elevate urgent primary care provision in Manchester. Effective partnerships that leverage existing services and promote integration will undoubtedly bolster the influence and impact of urgent primary care providers within the new Integrated Care System.'
