The trust said the review would include a number of clinical teams and was being carried out alongside wider work led by the chief medical officer and chief nursing officer to improve quality governance and safety processes.
A CUH spokesperson said: ‘Patient safety is our highest priority. We continually review outcomes across our services to identify where improvements can be made and to ensure patients receive the best possible care.
‘We take any concerns about clinical services or individuals extremely seriously and we have established processes to investigate thoroughly when issues are brought to our attention. As part of this process, we commission external, independent reviews when appropriate, as is best practice within the NHS.
The review led by two Royal Colleges is expected to conclude by the end of February.
A spokesperson said the trust will publish and act on all recommendations after the findings are shared in the early summer.
