The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Stephen Holroyd, joined Nuffield Health chief executive Alex Perry, hospital director Andrew Webster and consultant surgeons to officially unveil the new system.

Alex Perry, chief executive of Nuffield Health, said: ‘Our ambition is to provide the best care patients can receive anywhere, and that means continually investing in our people, facilities and technology.

‘Bringing the da Vinci 5 to Leeds is a great example of that commitment. As the latest generation of robotic-assisted surgical technology, it will help our teams deliver outstanding care for patients across the region, supporting more precise surgery, faster recovery and a better overall experience for the people we look after.'

The investment forms part of Nuffield Health's continuing programme of investment in clinical facilities, technology and services across its hospital network. It will soon be followed by a second da Vinci 5 system at Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital.
