Prof Warne joined GMMH in January 2024 bringing more than 40 years' experience in mental health services through clinical and management roles as well as academic work in the North West.

Chief executive Chris Oliver, who was appointed in May, said: ‘On behalf of everyone at GMMH, I would like to thank Tony for his leadership and the care he has shown for colleagues, service users, carers and families. His experience and steady support have made an important contribution during a significant period of change for the trust.

‘Tony leaves with our sincere thanks and very best wishes for the future.'

Prof Warne said: ‘It has been an absolute privilege to serve as chair of GMMH,' Prof Warne said.

‘I am grateful to everyone who has played a part in the trust's progress and I have seen how much colleagues want to make a positive difference for service users, carers and families.

‘There is still important work ahead, but by continuing to listen and learn, GMMH can provide better care and support for the people and communities it serves. I wish Chris, the new executive team and everyone at GMMH every success for the future.'
