Ansari is joined by David Bennett, chair of pathology provider Synnovis, East London GP, Sir Sam Everington, former Tony Blair and Wes Streeting adviser, Paul Corrigan, and Ravi Gurumurthy, chief executive of Nesta.

The Healthwatch England boss, who has stepped down from her role at NHS Sussex ICB, said: ‘I look forward to playing my part by continuing to champion the voice of patients, hold the NHS accountable and drive action on some of the issues that matter most to the public.'

Healthwatch England is being scrapped under the 10-Year Health Plan with the work of local healthwatch relating to healthcare being brought together with ICB and provider engagement functions.

Local authorities are being asked to take up local healthwatch social care functions.
