Miller was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer last year but has responded well to treatments and has taken the  decision to spend more time with his family.

‘My initial diagnosis of advanced stage 4 prostate cancer early in 2025 was a huge shock, but since then I have received some amazing cancer treatments and my cancer, whilst still incurable, has responded incredibly well and I am currently symptom free,' Miller said.

‘Therefore, after hearing this positive news from my treatment team and after careful consideration, I have decided that the time is right for me to step down as chair and spend more time with my family and grandchildren and generally enjoy the good health my cancer treatments having given me.

‘It has been a privilege to serve this trust and work alongside such dedicated colleagues. I am incredibly proud of the progress we have made together, and I am confident that the trust is well placed to continue its journey.'
