UCLH appoints Tessa Green as chair

University College London Hospitals (UCLH) has appointed Tessa Green as its new chair.

Green will take up the role on 1 October 2026 when UCLH's current chair Baroness Julia Neuberger completes her term, after more than seven years in the role.

She said: ‘I am honoured to be stepping into the role of chair of UCLH. This is an exciting period as UCLH prepares to launch a refreshed strategy, and it's a pivotal time for the NHS as it implements the ambitions of the Government's 10-Year Plan.

‘I'm looking forward to working with colleagues across the organisation who do an incredible job of caring for more than one million patients a year and to collaborating with partners to improve the health of the wider population that UCLH serves.'

UCLH chief executive David Probert said: ‘I am delighted to welcome Tessa as our new chair. She is passionate about the NHS and cares deeply about improving patient care. She also brings great energy, insight and innovative thinking to all that she does. These attributes, along with Tessa's previous leadership of world class specialist hospitals will be invaluable to UCLH, as we embrace the opportunities and tackle the challenges ahead. I'm very much looking forward to working with her to shape an exciting future for UCLH.'

Green previously served as chair of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
