The trust has signed a contract with System C to implement its CareFlow Ambient AI Outpatient Consultations module from summer 2026.

Duncan Dewhurst, chief digital and transformation officer at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, said: ‘Signing this contract for System C's Ambient AI solution represents a significant step forward for our outpatient services. We expect this technology to reduce administrative pressure on our clinicians, enabling clearer and faster communication with patients after their appointments. This solution will help us deliver safer, more efficient care while giving our teams more time to focus on what matters most – our patients.'

The module will be fully embedded within the CareFlow electronic patient record (EPR), capturing and transcribing conversations between clinicians and patients.  The functionality then automatically generates clinic letters and completes outcome forms that drive billing and follow-up actions.

Guy Lucchi, managing director of Healthcare at System C, added: ‘Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is leading the way in demonstrating what ambient AI can deliver when it is deeply embedded into the EPR. This isn't just about transcription – it's about transforming the entire outpatient workflow. By removing administrative burden, improving documentation quality, and supporting clinicians in real time, we're helping the NHS unlock capacity and improve patient experience. We're incredibly proud to be working with Buckinghamshire as they become our first trust to deploy this technology at scale.'
