PocDoc and Well rollout at-home test for cardiovascular disease

PocDoc, the digital health diagnostics company, is partnering with pharmacy chain Well to launch its at-home cardiovascular disease (CVD) test in its pharmacies across the country and online.

The ‘Healthy Heart Check' offers patients a comprehensive cholesterol profile, body mass index score, NHS heart age, and a ten-year risk assessment for heart attacks or strokes.

Test results and overall cardiovascular health risk can be shared into the customer's NHS app, dramatically reducing the time it would typically take for an individual to arrange, undertake, and receive results back from a standard blood test.

PocDoc's partnership with Well builds on its existing rollout across the UK within the NHS. In June 2024, PocDoc became the first private diagnostics provider to integrate with the NHS app.

Steve Roest, chief executive and co-founder of PocDoc, said: ‘If we want to truly get to grips with CVD, prevention is absolutely critical. At PocDoc we have made it our mission to help people detect problems earlier and faster, through the use of our innovative and patented technology with a massive focus on supporting the NHS across the UK.

‘But we also need to improve access to testing and that's where pharmacies have an integral role to play. Pharmacies are at the heart of community healthcare, which is why we're so excited to be partnering with Well. Through their national network of branches and phenomenal online presence, we hope to be able to reach an even greater number of patients and especially those most in need.'

Andrew Caplan, chief retail officer at Well Pharmacy, added: ‘We're always seeking innovative ways to improve the health of the communities we work in, and PocDoc's Healthy Heart Check is a perfect example. It's a game-changer, empowering people to take proactive steps to prevent serious conditions like cardiovascular disease.

‘It's been a pleasure to work with PocDoc's team to make this rollout a reality. It's easy to see why the company is growing at such a rate and we look forward to exploring further opportunities with them in the future.'
