Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford and Kent and Canterbury Hospital are among 70 news sites to benefit from the Great British Energy programme.
PRH is expected to save £35,000 a year in energy costs following a £445,000 installation on its car park canopy.
Inese Robotham, assistant chief executive and chair of the Climate Change Group at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), said: ‘We are delighted to have been awarded funding to install solar panels on a car park canopy at Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.
‘This is further investment which aligns with our vision of sustainable health services and more modern facilities, creating a better environment for our patients and colleagues.
‘It is a project that will reduce our carbon footprint further and contribute to savings of an estimated £1m a year in energy costs, which can then be redirected into frontline care.'
Elsewhere, East Kent Hospitals has secured £2.2m to install its first solar panels at Kent and Canterbury Hospital.
Installation will be completed in phases with the project due for completion by the end of March 2026.
The trust's chief strategy and partnership officer, Ben Stevens, said: ‘This investment is a major step in reducing our carbon emissions and strengthening the energy resilience of our hospitals, and it aligns with our ongoing commitment to creating a sustainable, future-ready trust.'
The additional funding announced on 24 October for 34 trusts will see estimated combined lifetime energy bill savings of up to £65m over the next 30 years, which is to be reinvested in frontline services.
Great British Energy's solar scheme is now worth up to £255m, supporting around 250 schools, 260 NHS sites and around 15 military sites across the country.
