Camborne and Redruth CDC is a partnership between NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly ICB and InHealth, the UK's largest specialist provider of diagnostic and healthcare solutions.
Smyth said: ‘I am really pleased to be here to see this fantastic centre in Redruth. This is exactly what we want to do as part of our 10-Year Health Plan. We've specifically talked about the needs of rural and coastal communities and bringing care closer to you the patients and to the public.
‘We know that the health service has got a long way to go to get back to those standards we all expect but centres like this, seeing people more quickly, more conveniently, are a key part of that.'
Debbie Richards, chief executive of Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust said: ‘I am delighted to see this facility delivering more care on the doorstep for patients in Camborne, Pool, Redruth and the west Cornwall area. Alongside our state-of-the-art Rosewarne Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, it is really bringing community hospital sites like Camborne Redruth into the 21st century.
‘The diagnostic facilities available here are on a par with those the trust offers at Bodmin Community Hospital. It is another real example of how Cornwall and the trust are delivering more care closer to home, as outlined in the 10-Year Health Plan.'
