Extension to autism and ADHD referrals announced

Autism (ASD) and ADHD referrals in Lancashire and South Cumbria have been extended until the end of March after healthcare leaders previously announced they would be paused.

Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) agreed that LSCFT will continue to accept referrals for the un-commissioned children and young people's ADHD and ASD service.

LSCFT said extension of time will enable the ICB to work up a commissioned framework for ASD and ADHD.  

The trust said there has been no change to the commissioned mental health pathway for children and young people who have a mental health need and also require ADHD/ASD assessment and treatment.

LSCFT announced in February it was unable to continue to accept referrals for uncommissioned pathways but quickly made a u-turn on the decision following a public outctry.
