The initiative, which launched earlier in January, will focus on residents who face barriers to accessing routine healthcare and screenings, with a particular emphasis on chronic disease prevention, including cardiovascular disease (CVD).
Health checks will be provided via PocDoc's Neighbourhood Bus, which will offer its Healthy Heart Check – a mobile, finger-prick test that delivers a full cholesterol profile, BMI score, heart age, and a 10-year heart attack or stroke risk assessment within minutes.
The test is the first of its kind to be fully integrated with the NHS app and patient record, allowing users to access results and care pathways seamlessly.
Over three days, the Neighbourhood Bus will visit easily accessible community locations across Chingford, including churches, mosques, libraries, high streets, and supermarkets.
NHS research shows that every digital health check can save 20 minutes of a GP's time, and early detection could prevent up to 80% of CVD cases, equivalent to saving an estimated 136,000 lives in the UK each year.
Dr Asad Ashraf, medical director for the E4 Network PCN, said: ‘Working with PocDoc allows us to remove major barriers to healthcare. By bringing the Neighbourhood Bus directly to busy community locations, we can calculate residents' risk on the spot and identify individuals who may need urgent care.'
Steve Roest, chief executive at PocDoc, added: ‘Health screenings should be accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live, and we hope this initiative helps residents understand their CVD risk and access early interventions to live healthier lives.'
