Burst water pipe repaired after hospital flooding

A burst pipe has been repaired at Princess Royal Hospital in Telford after flooding in some wards.

In an update this morning, the hospital said the repairs were carried out overnight after ambulances were temporarily diverted to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and neighbouring hospitals on Monday evening.

Ned Hobbs, chief operating officer at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust said: ‘We can confirm the water pipe was repaired last night at the Princess Royal Hospital. Our teams are currently assessing any damage and a clean-up operation is continuing. We would like to thank all patients and visitors for their support.'

Hobbs confirmed emergency department and maternity services remained fully open, adding: ‘We would also like to thank our amazing colleagues and partners who are working hard to support our patients and minimise disruption.'
