Aneurin Bevan University Health Board welcomes new chair

Andrew Morgan has been selected as the new chair of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

He is currently leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council and brings a wealth of experience in leadership, governance and public service.

Morgan, who also leads the Welsh Local Government Association, is the current longest-serving local government leader in the UK, leading Rhondda Cynon Taf Council over the past 12 years.

He replaces Ann Lloyd, who has held the role since 2017.

Nicola Prygodzicz, chief executive of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, said: ‘Andrew will provide leadership to the board, working closely with non-executives and executive colleagues to ensure that we continue to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care for our residents

‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ann Lloyd for her dedication and contribution during her tenure. Ann's leadership and commitment to staff, patients and partners have made a lasting impact on the organisation.'

Jeremy Miles, cabinet secretary for health and social care, said: ‘Andrew brings extensive publicsector leadership experience. His strategic insight, proven ability to navigate complex challenges, and strong understanding of local and national systems will, I am confident, provide Aneurin Bevan University Health Board with the assurance, guidance and strategic leadership needed to support the organisation through the significant challenges ahead.'

Morgan will take up the role on 5 May.
