With Research England's Higher Education Innovation knowledge exchange funding, the project supports local authorities to deliver on the new health inequalities duty introduced in the English Devolution White Paper.
Councillor Louise Gittins, chair of the LGA, said: ‘Councils are working day in, day out to tackle health inequalities, but we cannot do it alone. Addressing and bridging health inequalities is a key priority of mine as LGA chair and for our members so I am pleased that this new partnership will bring together expertise from across sectors to share knowledge, build on Professor Marmot's pioneering work, and deliver practical solutions that improve lives in every community.'
The ‘Devolution and health equity knowledge exchange' will see UCL Grand Challenges, UCL Public Policy, Institute of Health Equity, and the LGA partnering through a series of knowledge exchange events, convening expertise across multiple sectors and organisations.
The project will support the synthesis of existing evidence and co-design resources to support evidence-informed policy approaches to improving health equity across England.
