The trust, which has been served with NHSE enforcement undertakings, is bracing for strike action from critical care and theatre department colleagues.

Theatre workers will walk out from 7.30am on Friday 26 June to 8am on Saturday 27 June. This will be followed by strike action by clinical staff working in critical care units at Salford Royal, Fairfield General Hospital and The Royal Oldham Hospital from Monday 29 June to Saturday 4 July. 

Gertie Nic Philib, chief people and strategy officer at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, said: ‘We are now preparing for a period of industrial action involving our theatre colleagues. While both parties are disappointed that we have reached this position, we recognise the outcome of the ballot and remain committed to ensuring a fair and consistent approach for all colleagues.

‘We respect our colleagues' right to take lawful industrial action and remain committed to continuing constructive discussions with union representatives.

‘As always, the safety of our patients and the delivery of high-quality care remain our top priorities. We are working hard to minimise any disruption to patients and those who use our services. Anyone with an appointment should continue to attend as planned unless they are contacted directly and advised otherwise.'
