A report revealed by The Times ahead of the investigation's findings, showed Yaser Jabbar had left some patients with chronic pain, deformities and nerve damage during surgeries carried out between 2017 and 2022.

A spokesperson for Great Ormond Street Hospital said: ‘We are deeply sorry to all the children, young people and their families who have been affected by the actions of a surgeon working at GOSH between 2017 and 2022.'

The hospital confirmed a report into the surgeon will be shared with families this month before it is published.

A review by the Royal College of Surgeons revealed by The Times in September 2024 concluded the surgery led by Jabbar was ‘incorrect and unsuitable'.

It said the surgeon ‘demonstrated a lack of understanding of the principles of deformity correction surgery, in addition to a lack of insight'.

An RCS spokesperson said: ‘It is deeply concerning to read reports in the Sunday Times that the outcome of a wider independent patient review at Great Ormond Street Hospital has identified harm to a number of children.

‘It is right that the hospital took action to complete a wider look back of patients following the concerns highlighted by RCS England's invited review in 2023, to fully understand the scale and impact of what has occurred.'
