Eight people have been arrested on suspicion of wilful neglect and ill treatment in relation to the allegation of an assault made in July 2025. All eight people remain on bail.

Five people have been arrested on suspicion of corporate manslaughter and gross negligence manslaughter in relation to the death of a man in February 2025. One person remains on bail for the offence of wilful neglect by a care worker.

Northamptonshire Police said no further action will be taken into a corporate manslaughter and gross negligence manslaughter investigation that took place following the death of a teenage girl in October 2024.  An individual arrested in connection with the investigation has been released with no further action taken.

A police spokesperson said: ‘Due to the nature of the investigations, we remain in contact with the Care Quality Commission the independent regulator of health and social care.'

The mental health charity was rated inadequate by the CQC in October 2025.

A St Andrew's Healthcare spokesperson said: ‘Patient safety is our highest priority at St Andrew's Healthcare and we have an urgent action plan to strengthen the quality of care we provide.

‘As a charity, we are committed to full transparency and take a zero-tolerance approach to any allegation of harm or poor practice. We immediately reported these cases to the police, informed the Care Quality Commission and launched internal investigations.

‘Following their own independent investigation, the police concluded that no further action was required in one case and closed it. The remaining cases are ongoing with the police. It is the responsibility of the police - not St Andrew's - to determine these outcomes after conducting thorough, independent investigations.'

The charity said its action plan included: new training for all frontline staff; reducing the use of agency staff to virtually zero; improved staffing, with more nurses per patient; installing CCTV on most wards with routine reviews and spot checks; strengthened leadership in nursing and clinical services; promoting an open culture, where staff speak out to raise issues and concerns; and removing management layers to ensure a closer link between ward staff and leaders.
