The hospital in Huntingdon is one of seven with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (Raac) that have been prioritised for construction in the first wave of the New Hospital Programme.

Deborah Lee, senior responsible officer for the Hinchingbrooke Redevelopment, said: ‘This is an exciting and key step in the planning process for our new hospital and we are excited to share the potential plans and illustrate how we have taken a wide range of views on board.'

The new hospital will be built on the southern corner of the existing site.

A planning application has also been submitted for accommodation for medical students and trust staff.

Construction of the hospital is expected to begin by 2028.
