The functionality expansion means urgent and emergency care teams can now document patient care directly within the system, while clinical documentation, internal referrals, bed management and outpatient e-observations are all completed in Nervecentre. Clinicians can also access patient documentation, such as historic records, clinic letters and administrative correspondence through the EPR allowing them to make quicker decisions regarding patient care.

Jonathan Coulter, chief executive at HDFT, said: ‘This is a significant moment in our digital journey and a clear investment in the future of our services, which will benefit both staff and patients for years to come.'

The first phase of the Nervecentre EPR, which went live in November 2025, introduced electronic observations and clinical photography, with a patient investigations feature following in December 2025. This has allowed test results to be viewed and filed in the same system, reducing duplication and saving valuable time.

Paul Volkaerts, chief executive of Nervecentre Software said: ‘The smooth and successful go-live is a testament to the outstanding teamwork, dedication and project management shown by colleagues at both HDFT and Nervecentre.'
