The facility was launched by SWFT Clinical Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust.

Ross Mould, director of clinical operations at SWFT Clinical Services, said: ‘SWFT Clinical Services remains committed to safety, excellence and patient-centred care. The new purpose-built outpatient pharmacy at Warwick Hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, demonstrates our continued investment in innovation to enhance local NHS services.'

Features of the pharmacy include a dispensing robot, which increases the site's stock levels, enhances the speed of the dispensing process and allows for faster patient discharges, enabling focus on direct patient care.

The facility also includes a Medipoint prescription collection machine, giving patients the flexibility to collect their prescribed medicines at times that are most convenient for them and helping to reduce wait times by making the process of collecting prescriptions more convenient.

An electronic controlled drugs cabinet has also been installed to increase both safety and efficiency in dispensing controlled substances. This system provides an added layer of security for sensitive medications.
