The award is available to all NHS and independent sector hospitals performing joint replacement surgery in England and Wales and recognises those that have met the registry's highest data quality standards.

Arthur Stephen, chief medical officer at Nuffield Health, said: ‘To have all 33 of our eligible hospitals achieve Gold status for the third consecutive year is a remarkable milestone and a testament to the dedication of our teams, who have submitted more than 25,000 records this year, and consistently strive to achieve the highest standards. This recognition reflects not only their expertise, but also our commitment to quality outcomes and patient safety.'

The NJR collects and monitors high-quality orthopaedic data on the performance of hip, knee, ankle, elbow and shoulder joint replacement to drive higher standards of care, patient safety, and value in surgery. The registry also provides surgical performance feedback to orthopaedic clinicians and joint replacement implant manufacturers.
