North East trust selects new deputy chief executive

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) has appointed Kelly Angus as deputy chief executive.

Angus joins CDDFT from North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, where she has been interim chief people officer.

She joined North Cumbria on a six-month secondment from the North East and North Cumbria ICB, where she has held the role of chief people officer.

Until October 2025, she was also part of NHS England's North East and Yorkshire regional team, serving as director of workforce, training and education.

Her previous roles include deputy chief executive and acting chief executive at Northumberland County Council, deputy director of HR at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and regional and national roles within NHS England.

Angus said: ‘I'm looking forward to working with colleagues across the organisation and with our partners to support our teams and continue to strengthen the care and services we provide.

‘I believe strongly in collaborative leadership and in creating the right conditions for people to do their best work and I'm excited to get started.'
