Trudie began her secondment in late July, stepping in to support NCIC while their chief executive, Lyn Simpson, provides interim leadership at the Humber Health Partnership.
He joins on secondment from South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, where he is director of operations and was previously deputy chief executive. Dr Fenwick has worked in the NHS for more than 30 years, combining a clinical background as a consultant nephrologist with senior executive roles across operations, governance and clinical transformation.
Chair of Gateshead Health, Alison Marshall, said: ‘Sean brings not only senior operational and system experience but also a strong clinical background. I know he'll work closely with colleagues and partners in the months ahead.'
Dr Fenwick added: ‘It's an honour to take on this role and to contribute to a trust whose values and priorities I share. Having spent my career in the North East, I've always respected the work taking place at Gateshead Health.
‘I'm looking forward to working with colleagues, partners and the board to support the work already underway. I know how much people care about what they do, and I'll do everything I can to support that.'
Dr Fenwick will lead Gateshead Health on an interim basis from 18 August, working closely with the trust board and executive team.
