Midlands trust appoints new director of medical education

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) has appointed Dr Nick Munyanyi as director of medical education.

Dr Munyanyi joined UHNM in 2011 as a consultant in acute internal medicine and has held key roles at UHNM, including supervising and mentoring learners across the trust, leading the Foundation Training Programme as training programme director from 2015, and most recently serving as deputy director of medical education for the past three years.

He said: ‘Education is most impactful when learners feel respected, supported and inspired, and I want UHNM to be a place where everyone has the opportunity to flourish.

'My vision is to nurture an inclusive learning culture that celebrates diversity and excellence, values every voice and empowers people to reach their full potential.'

Dr Dianne Adamson, UHNM chief medical officer, added: ‘With his passion for education and commitment to developing the next generation of healthcare professionals, Dr Munyanyi's leadership will help ensure UHNM continues to deliver high-quality education, which is essential to the excellent care we provide to our local population.'

Dr Munyanyi replaces Professor Will Carroll.
