NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin said the service will be delivered using existing funding but with a redesigned approach to ensure the best possible outcomes and value for money.

Gemma Smith, director of commissioning for NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, said: ‘This is not a continuation of the previous service, it's a new and different model, designed from the ground up with input from hundreds of children, young people, parents, carers and professionals. We're pleased that MPFT has been selected through the formal procurement process and look forward to working with them to deliver a service that is easier to access, more responsive, and better connected across our health and care system.'

Cathy Riley, managing director for MPFT's Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Care Group, added: ‘We are enormously proud to have been chosen to deliver this new CAMHS model in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. As the existing CAMHS provider locally, we're delighted to continue to provide this hugely important service to children, young people and families in the years ahead.

‘We also recognise the importance of continuous improvement in meeting local needs, which we know have changed significantly in recent years. We're committed to working closely with NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, local partners and our communities to deliver a service that reflects the priorities and experiences of children, young people and families, with a focus on enhancing accessibility and early support, delivering truly integrated care.'
