Hospital rated good again for children and young people's services

Tameside General Hospital in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester has retained its good rating for children and young people’s services following an inspection by the CQC.

The inspection was carried out in response to concerns received about serious incidents within the service, however, inspectors found no areas where children and young people were being placed at risk of harm.

Jonathan O'Brien, chief operating officer/deputy chief executive of Tameside and Glossop IC NHS FT, said: ‘We are pleased that our services for children and young people remain rated good following the recent CQC inspection. This is a testament to our hard-working staff, who continuously strive to improve the standard of care for our young patients in both hospital and community settings.'

The CQC praised staff for being kind, supportive and respectful, while highlighting the services'  inclusive culture.  

The CQC added: ‘The service had a strong focus on meeting the needs of the diverse population, particularly for children and young people with additional needs and disabilities.

‘Staff worked collaboratively with local and regional partners to support and improve people's access to children and young people's services.'
