The service was again rated outstanding overall, as well as for being effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Its rating for safe was upgraded rom good to outstanding.

Catherine Campbell, CQC deputy director of operations in the south, said: ‘We found staff at St Margaret's Somerset Hospice provided exceptional care and treatment which prioritised people's safety, comfort and individual needs. People praised staff kindness and told CQC they felt involved in their care planning, alongside their loved ones, and appreciated the support offered to them.'

The CQC praised the service for offering translation services and reasonable adjustments for people with disabilities and for its ‘positive work environment which emphasised learning, collaborative working, and innovation'.

St Margaret's was also recognised for an improvement project with the local NHS trust and other partners on maximising end-of-life care.

James Rimmer, chief executive of St Margaret's Hospice, said: ‘We are absolutely thrilled to receive an outstanding rating from the CQC once again. This recognition is a testament to the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of every single member of our team.

‘I want to extend my deepest thanks to our staff and volunteers for their commitment to delivering excellent care to our patients and their families. This achievement highlights our shared vision of placing patient care and safety at the heart of everything we do.'
