The Health Foundation appoints three governors

The Health Foundation has appointed Professor Karen Reid, Professor Kim Graham and Stian Westlake as governors.

Their appointments follow the follow the arrival of former CQC chief inspector, Sir David Behan, as chair of the board of governors in August 2025.

Dr Jennifer Dixon, chief executive at The Health Foundation, said: ‘Health is always high on the political agenda, but at this moment, our mission has never been more urgent. We are therefore thrilled to welcome Karen, Kim and Stian to our board of governors. Their varied experience across sectors, including health, education and research will be invaluable as we continue to drive forward our mission to improve health and care for people across the UK.' 

Prof Reid is the chief executive of NHS Education for Scotland and has been a member of its executive board since 2021. She is an honorary professor at the University of Dundee and St Andrews. As the former chief executive of Perth and Kinross Council and the Care Inspectorate, she has held various roles in education and the public sector in Scotland.

Prof Graham is the provost and chief academic officer at the University of Edinburgh, where she oversees delivery of the University's academic strategy and the Edinburgh and South-East Scotland Data-Driven Innovation Initiative. Previously, she was pro-vice-chancellor for research and innovation at Cardiff University. She is also a member of the UKRI MRC Council.

Westlake is the executive chair of the Economic and Social Research Council, the UK's national funder of social research and data infrastructure. Previously, he was the chief executive of the Royal Statistical Society and executive director at Nesta and served as an adviser to three UK science ministers.
