Jugdeep Johal was compensated after a tribunal ruled he had been unfairly dismissed by Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust for the misuse of a demonstration vehicle.

Employment Judge Hutchinson ruled the trust's investigation of Johal had been ‘deeply flawed'.

A spokesperson for NHS Humber Health Partnership said: ‘We would like to apologise to Mr Johal for his experience and for the impact which these events, and the subsequent tribunal proceedings, will inevitably have had on himself and his family.

‘We recognise that this case has been challenging for those involved, but we fully accept the tribunal's findings. Having reflected carefully on the proceedings, it is clear that there is valuable organisational learning to be taken from this case. We will share that learning across the trust in order that we, as an employer, consistently follow due process in the future, reflecting our ongoing commitment to providing a fair, inclusive and supportive working environment.'
