The CDC at Thanet Community Health Hub in Broadstairs is led by East Kent Health and Care Partnership and run by East Kent Hospitals NHS University Foundation Trust (EKHUFT), as a spoke to the current Buckland Hospital CDC in Dover.

Cara Barlow, EKHUFT's community diagnostic hub lead, said: ‘This service means people in Thanet can get tests and checks completed faster and closer to home. It's especially important in areas like ours, where many people can face barriers to accessing healthcare. We're sure this will make a real difference for local patients.'

The first service to launch at the hub is the respiratory sleep clinic, which will improve access for patients and reduce waits.

Over the next few months, more services will be added, including: cardiology from October; phlebotomy (blood tests) from November; and lung function from December.

In spring 2026, an MRI scanner will be installed, helping more people get faster access to important tests.

As well as the diagnostic centre, the new hub will also include a range of community services, such as community nursing, podiatry, cardiac and respiratory services. It will also be the new home for St Peter's Surgery general practice, from November.
