The spending uplift comes ahead of plans to launch the NHS Online hospital service in 2027.

Sachin Agrawal, managing director for Zoho UK commented: ‘For the UK to compete on the global stage, secure and scalable cloud adoption is non-negotiable. As the UK strengthens its position in science, healthcare, and innovation, it is encouraging to see public institutions like the Department of Health and Social Care take a long-term, strategic approach to cloud investment. Rising cyber threats and tougher regulatory requirements make a full move to the cloud not just an option, but a necessity for ensuring security, resilience, and efficiency. Cloud adoption must also protect citizens' data, treating privacy not as a feature but as a fundamental right.

‘The success of cloud adoption will form the foundation of a more resilient, innovative UK. Robust cloud computing gives businesses scalable infrastructure and advanced security, enabling secure data sharing, smarter public services, and stronger collaboration. By setting this example, the DHSC shows how Government departments can lead the way in building the digital backbone the UK needs for its future.'
