The inspection of the Essex service, which included an outstanding rating for responsiveness, took place in September 2025.

Inspectors praised Passmores House for tailoring care to individual need, supporting people with co-existing mental and physical health conditions, and maintaining continuity between detoxification, rehabilitation and discharge planning. The service was also recognised for strong leadership, a positive learning culture and skilled, compassionate staff.

The outstanding for responsiveness, highlighted the service's flexibility in meeting complex presentations, including chemsex and ketamine use, and its commitment to ensuring people feel safe, respected and involved in their care.

Dr Arun Dhandayudham, medical director at Via, said: ‘The CQC's findings are a strong endorsement of the quality of care delivered at Passmores House. Being rated outstanding for responsiveness reflects the skill, compassion and judgement of our teams in supporting people with complex needs.'

Passmores House has also increased its capacity to support more people through medically managed detoxification and structured rehabilitation.

Dr Dhandayudham added: ‘Increasing capacity means more people can now benefit from this level of care, while maintaining the standards that underpin safe and effective treatment.'
