CQC delays Integrated Care Systems inspections until after General Election

In an update on 24 May, the regulator said it would be engaging with the new Government on obtaining approvals to begin assessments.

The methodology to carry out ICS assessments is subject to Government approval under the Health and Care Act 2022.

The CQC submitted its proposed ICS assessment methodology to the Department of Health and Social Care earlier this year but announced in April that it has agreed to a short delay to refine its approach.

Following approval, the regulator said it will publish the reports of its pilot assessments,  evaluation of the pilots and updated guidance on its approach. The pilots have been carried out with Birmingham and Solihull ICS and Dorset ICS.

The outcome of the CQC's consultation on recovering regulatory assessment costs together with an updated fees scheme will also be published once Government approval has been received.
