The closure of the ward was agreed as part of the reorganisation of maternity and neonatal services in North Central London by North Central London ICB.

Councillor Anna Wright, Camden Council cabinet member for health, wellbeing and adult social care, said: ‘We recognise that the decision taken by the NHS on changes to maternity and neonatal care in North Central London has been a difficult one and has caused concern among some Camden residents.

‘We engaged actively with the NCL ICB over the consultation period and have taken every opportunity to ensure that the potential impacts on Camden residents, including marginalised communities, are fully understood and considered.

‘We have sought assurances that these concerns have been taken on board and we are committed to continuing the conversation with the NHS ICB to ensure that Camden can benefit from excellent maternity services that meet the different needs of our communities and that Camden residents continue to have a voice in the implementation of any changes.'
