Andrew was elected as the MP for Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough in May 2010, having previously worked at the British Heart Foundation and for several children's hospices.

In June 2024, Andrew was selected as the Conservative Party Candidate for the Daventry Constituency.

He has taken an active role in All Party Parliamentary Groups during his parliamentary career, including chairing the groups on heart disease and children who need palliative care.

Andrew said: ‘Honoured to be appointed as the shadow secretary of state for health and social care.

‘Our NHS and social care services are vital to millions, and I will work tirelessly to hold the Government to account and stand up for patients, staff, and families across the country.'

Andrew replaces Edward Argar, who confirmed he would be standing down following a ‘health scare'.
