Community diagnostic centre opens in Hull

An £18m community diagnostic centre (CDC) has opened in Hull.

The new centre will offer up to 150,000 additional diagnostic tests every year and will be staffed by expert clinicians offering a range of diagnostic tests to detect conditions such as cancer, heart disease and respiratory conditions.

NHS Humber Health Partnership Group director of transformation, Ivan McConnell, said: ‘The opening of our latest community diagnostic centre in the heart of Hull represents our ongoing investment and commitment to providing patients with access to additional appointments in easily accessible locations, away from our busy main hospital sites.'

Construction of the CDC was a working partnership between the NHS, Hull City Council and contractors VINCI Building.

The site is part of the council's wider Albion Square regeneration programme and is expected to create around 100 new jobs in Hull and provide economic boosts to Hull city centre.

Cllr Mike Ross, leader of Hull City Council, said: ‘It is really pleasing that we are now able to showcase this state-of-the-art health facility in Hull city centre following a brilliant working partnership between the council, the NHS and contractors.

‘The CDC will bring health and wellbeing benefits to our residents for many years to come, whilst also contributing to supporting our wider city centre regeneration.'
