Appointed as the inaugural chair, Jain has played a central role in establishing the ICB and guiding it through its formative years.

During his tenure, he championed innovation, community engagement, and system-wide collaboration. Looking ahead, he plans to focus on advancing health innovation and expanding involvement in charitable work.

Jain said: ‘With the 10-year plan now launched, this feels like the right time for me to retire and hand over to a new chair who can lead the next phase of transformation over the coming years.

‘This decision also reflects my desire to dedicate more time to the areas I'm passionate about—driving quality in health and care and supporting causes that make a real difference to those who suffer inequity.'

Cathy Elliott, chief executive of NHS Cheshire and Merseyside ICB, said: ‘Raj's leadership has helped embed a culture of collaboration which will benefit local residents now and, in the future, and also in focusing the health and care system on equity via the Marmot All Together Fairer report.

‘We especially appreciate his leadership in progressing system working in support of Children and Young People across Cheshire and Merseyside.'
