The new dedicated building will enable the hospital to offer a ‘one-stop shop' of diagnostic services, increase what it is currently able to provide and help to reduce patient waits for essential tests which will inform their diagnosis and treatment.
Abigail Jago, acting chief executive at QVH, said: ‘Beginning construction of our dedicated community diagnostic centre building is a milestone for QVH and our community. By bringing faster, more accessible diagnostics closer to home, we are delivering on our commitment to reducing waiting times and enhancing patient experience.'
Dr Ian Francis, deputy chief medical officer at QVH, added: ‘Having multiple diagnostic tests available in a single visit will streamline care pathways, improve outcomes and make the healthcare system more responsive to patient needs.'
Logan Construction has been appointed as contractor for the build which is expected to open in the summer.
