Barts Health selects new chief nursing officer

Barts Health NHS Trust has appointed Rachael Corser as its new group chief nursing officer.

Corser joins from Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire West ICB where she has been chief nurse since 2022.

She previously worked in executive nursing leadership roles in different healthcare organisations, including leading the response to the Covid-19 pandemic in East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.

Corser has worked in both hospital and community settings, run education and training for nurses and midwives, led large-scale clinical transformation initiatives, and run workforce development programs.

She is also a Florence Nightingale Foundation scholar, a visiting senior clinical Fellow at the University of Hertfordshire, has published research in the nursing literature and is a trustee of the Burdett Nursing Trust charity.

Corser said: 'It is a privilege and honour to have been appointed to this role and I'm really looking forward to working with staff, patients, and local communities.

'I am committed to developing the next generation of leaders in nursing, midwifery and AHP practice to drive the excellence and innovation that will shape healthcare here at Barts.'

Corser will replace Caroline Alexander who steps down later this year.
