City of York Council is set to expand its Smoke Control Area (SCA) to cover the entire city, in a major step towards cleaner air and healthier communities.
New wood-burning stoves will have stricter limits on smoke emissions and would have to be sold with health warnings under proposed government rules.
At-risk groups will benefit from better access to information on air pollution following the Government’s Air Quality Information System (AQIS) review.
NHS Cheshire and Merseyside has developed an Air Quality Framework to address the root causes of air pollution.
